What was Spirit of the Miners?

Spirit of the Miners was a community regeneration project that set out to create an identity for northern Ceredigion using the legacy of metal mining as a theme for regeneration. The project mainly focused on the human, social and community aspects of mining culture. In short, the very reason why many of the upland villages exist.

The project was managed by Ceredigion County Council and funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, the European Objective 1 programme and the Countryside Council for Wales to whom we were grateful for their support.

Spirit of the Miners created a grant scheme which provided communities with an opportunity to be inspired to develop projects using the theme of mining in the northern part of the county. The project saw the development of a range of projects some traditional, modern and innovative. Follow the link below to take a look at the range of interesting projects approved.
